How to activate the verification of Nintendo to avoid the 'hacking' of accounts?

Nintendo has recommended that its users enable two-step authentication on their accounts, a security measure that helps combat 'hacking' by adding an additional step in addition to traditional passwords.
In recent weeks, several users of Nintendo accounts have reported access by 'hackers' who in some cases have made purchases of up to $ 300 in video game content such as Fortnite, according to the ZDNet portal .
The Japanese company itself recognized an increase in unauthorized access to linked credit card accounts during April and asked to set up security measures such as two-step authentication.
Through its support page, Nintendo explains that it is possible to activate verification in two steps, so that in addition to the password, it is necessary to enter the key provided through Google Authenticator sent to smart devices such as mobile devices.
The video game company assured that this measure "provides additional security that can prevent unauthorized access," and also states that it is not available for children's accounts of users 16 years of age or younger.

Steps to activate it

To activate Nintendo Two-Factor Authentication, you first need to log into the service's website, navigate to the 'Two-Step Verification' section, click 'Edit' and choose 'Activate Two-Step Verification'.
To enable this feature, it is necessary to first verify the email address associated with the Nintendo account. By selecting 'Send', the user will receive a verification email at the address shown and which can be changed if incorrect from the 'Email address' menu.
Through the mail, the user receives a verification code that must be entered in the Nintendo account and select 'Send'.
The next step is to install the Google Authenticator application on the user's mobile phone - if it is not already installed - which is free and available through Google Play for the Android system and the App Store for iOS.
Subsequently, from the application of the smart device it is necessary to scan the QR code shown on the screen of the Nintendo account.
After this step, a six-digit verification code appears on the mobile that must be entered in step three of the Nintendo account screen and select 'Send'.
Then a list of security codes is displayed that the user can copy and paste somewhere safe. These security codes are used to log in if you do not have access to the Google Authenticator application, and they can be used differently each time.
With these steps, two-step verification is configured. You can return to the 'Two-Step Verification Settings' section to view security codes or remove the restriction.
